The village of Lee is on the north coast of Devon, 2 miles from Ilfracombe, in a coastal conservation area. It is situated in a wooded valley leading down to a stunning cove which as the tide goes out, reveals dramatic rocks with rock pools and finally, at the full extent of the tide, a sandy beach.
It has a village pub, hotel, craft shop and tearooms  but is completely unspoilt by the usual seaside commercialism.
We are surrounded by seaside in all its various forms. Within a few miles in any direction you can find long sandy beaches, rock pools, harbours, sand dunes, estuary flats and towering cliffs.
Three miles to the east is the Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe with its harbour and seaside amusements. Here you can arrange boat trips to Lundy Island, along the coast to Lynmouth and sea fishing trips. There is a small but fascinating aquarium beside the harbour showing all the native marine and river life of the region.
Four miles to the west is the beautiful sandy beach at Woolacombe with safe bathing, sand dunes and surfing, perfect for old-fashioned bucket and spade holidays. Surfers brave the weather at all times of the year and if you are a beginner, all the kit is available for hire at one of the many surf shops in Woolacoombe and Croyde .
If walking is your thing, the South West Coast path is very nearby and is breathtaking (in many ways!) and it is only two miles walk over the hills into Ilfracombe. In the opposite direction the coast path takes you past Lee Bay up to Bull Point lighthouse with views across the Bristol Channel to Wales and Lundy. There are also many interesting walks through the woods and down to the sea.
If you are on a walking holiday, we will be happy to deliver your luggage to your next destination leaving you free to arrive under your own steam.
There is a newly refurbished section of the National cycle route nearby which is part of the Devon Coast to Coast route.
